Regitzer Spitz Geological Hike – The Guardian of the Rhine Valley
A lone rock fortress in the valley’s heart, military secrets, and the Bündner Herrschaft wine region
This guided geological hike begins in the picturesque village of Fläsch, one of the strongholds of Swiss winemaking. From there, we'll conquer the "island mountain" of Regitzer Spitz, which rises solitary above the broad Rhine Valley. We'll discover how this gigantic rock mass remained behind during the valley's formation as we traverse steep, narrow paths along the edge of vertical cliffs, passing former military fortifications hidden deep within the mountain.
Vineyards and Geological Mysteries: How did this mountain get here?
Regitzer Spitz is a true geological curiosity: a rock mass that, defying erosion, guards the valley like a lonely bastion. During the tour, we'll decode the relationship between the rocks and the wine in the famous Bündner Herrschaft vineyards. After a spectacular "summit push," an incredible panorama unfolds: the peaks of Pizol, the town of Bad Ragaz, the bends of the Rhine, and even Liechtenstein lie at your feet. This tour is a unique intersection of history, military strategy, and the raw power of nature.
